Hi! After encountering the same issue yesterday and today, I thought I’d ask: does the FFXIV Mudfish item include some sort of extra configuration data for the login server? I’ve been having trouble logging in from the launcher and both times it happened I was able to get the game running with Mudfish disabled (small sample size, might still be a coincidence at this point). I can play normally using Mudfish, but from what I heard XIV’s infrastructure is a little weird with choke points in JP that all regions need to go through, so I was wondering whether the Mudfish item handles those in addition to the regional servers we do select in the configuration.

Yes, you’re right. Mudfish items include various routing table details, covering not only game server IPs but also login and launcher servers.
By default, items route based on these IP tables. To fix your launcher issue, please try enabling WFP Item mode. When enabled, it routes traffic on a per-process basis rather than routing tables, which usually resolves login issues.

Since WFP mode isn’t an option for you, Mudfish operates purely based on its routing tables. Depending on your specific Mudfish settings, web traffic can sometimes be processed specially, but that doesn’t seem related to this launcher issue. So, unless there’s a specific exception, you can just assume everything is handled strictly by the routing table.
