Repeatedly get the error that the client doesn’t respond to DHP Protocol.

When I look at the adapter it notes “No internet Access”

I have already, the only time it seems to work is if I disable the item, turn off mudfish, then turn on mudfish and enable the item.

Once I get the graph to start showing, however, I’m not sure it actually is working since the ping doesn’t actually change from the how it normally is and the balance doesn’t seem to matter either.

Umm… Then please confirm that How to check the basic functionality works fine in your environment. It’s a first thing you should test.
