Albion Online ingame ping differs than mudfish realtime

mudfish vpn locally shows the estimated ping to be ~121ms, however in game /ping command still display ~145ms and it does not change having connected to the vpn node or not. I’ve tried different nodes, none change the in game ping. However i’ve tested the network it seems to be working and the game connection seems to be more stable than without it. However I’m curious why it does not change the in game display values. Can you help?

kernel: Linux
vpn: mudfish version 6.5.3
node: basic mode US East
server: Albion americas Game Server Location: Americas (Washington DC)
game: Albion Online native linux client

Hello! Mudfish’s RTT is an estimate, so 121 ms need not match Albion’s /ping. Unchanged ping alone doesn’t prove the VPN is inactive. Stability can improve without lower ping.

Please test Full VPN mode with the same US East node. Save, restart Mudfish, confirm the IP changes at myip.mudfish.net, then relaunch Albion. Please share /ping in the same area with Mudfish off, item mode, and Full VPN. This helps check game-item routing. Pause downloads and disable Full VPN afterward, since it routes other traffic too.

Thanks for clarifying. Indeed it improve stability, it is noticeable. I was curious about the ping.

You asked for a test with full vpn mode, it increases the ping to from ~180ms to ~220ms most of the time. Even using the same node.
My ping without mudfish is around ~145ms (±10), but i get much more packet loss.
with item mode it sits around ~145ms (±10), however almost without packet loss.

Again, i was curious about the ping itself.
Thank you very much for your time

Thanks for testing! Please keep using item mode with Full VPN off, given the reduced packet loss at ~145 ms.

Mudfish’s estimated RTT can differ from Albion’s /ping because measurement targets and protocols may differ (details). Stability can improve without lower ping. We can’t identify the reason for Full VPN’s higher ping from these results alone. I’m glad item mode is helping!
