Escape from Tarkov (NA West) region issues

When connecting to the VPN item and configuring for the NA West region, Mudfish will optimise for servers in a specific data centre, but there is at least 100ms overhead in one of the data centers in this region, making the connection very unreliable.

The “estimated ping” and RTT calculations should at least consider that other data centre (or the worst of the lot).

For context I get 140ms with an advanced link as recommended by the app, but the actual ping is 260ms for the server. I’ve confirmed the server is likely somewhere in NA West, but none of the nodes seem to provide a good connection that allows me to play (ping must be below 200ms).

Weird… Could you please confirm that it’s also same with Full VPN mode enabled?

If it works fine with Full VPN mode enabled, it means there’s something a problem in the game item of Mudfish.

So when I try Full VPN mode it appears to cycle between a set of servers that go from 140 to 160ms ping, which suggests whichever data-centre they are using in that cluster is only 20ms worse than the best one via the VPN (which would be totally acceptable), whereas when I use the item/basic mode, it’s either 140ms or 260ms, which means one of the servers is being reached via the VPN but the other one isn’t.

This issue started to occur about two weeks ago if I can remember correctly (but it may have been longer than that).

Okay. It’s a good signal that Full VPN mode solves your issue. If possible, please check Packet Capture with Mudfish link and send us some game packets. We need it to analyze the game traffics and will update the game item.

I’ve uploaded a packet capture whilst selecting a server and retrieving my RTT several times on the in-game server selection menu.

Let me know if actual gameplay capture on the server in question is necessary, as I will need a more elaborate preparation.(I will connect to the region with the Item mode, and when I connect to a server with unacceptable ping I will switch to Full VPN mode and perform packet capture there.)

I’d left my answer on the packet dump topic you uploaded at Private Support menu. Please check it there. You can find your topics at My Topics link.

Initial look seems that the pings in the server selection screen are indeed looking much better, I’ll have to play a bit in the region to determine whether it addresses the game-play element properly as well (as the selection of servers within the region is inconsistent), I’ll let you know as soon as I get an idea.

It seems the change you made also fixed “Singapore” and “Malaysia” access, which I have tested in-game as consistent with the server browser pings now.

Cool! I hope now everything goes well with mudfish. Please let me know again if there are an issue with NA West region.
