Packet loss, Unstable Ping issue in Delta Force Singapore servers

Hello, since past few days I’m having packet loss issue to singapore servers in Delta Force game. The ping also fluctuates a lot. I haven’t experienced this issue with any other game using Mudfish. Kindly help me find a workaround for this. Thank you.

I’m from India and have tried almost all the nodes configuration to play the game but everytime I have this issue. Maybe there is issue with nodes on India side or singapore side. I’m not sure.

Please try to test your network status from your desktop to 43.152.113.1 (Delta Force - Asia (Singapore)) using How to use WinMTR link.

I think you need to do two tests; one without mudfish and another with mudfish connected. I think this result shows you where this issue is from.

Hello Ma’am, I have attached all the screenshots for your reference. I live in Delhi so I have tested Delhi nodes and also most of the Singapore nodes for the game.

Connection method:- Item based + WFP item mode.

Items:- Delta Force

Node Mode:- Basic mode

When using my ISP (without Mudfish) , WinMTR shows packet loss but I have experienced no such issues whatsoever whenever I play using my ISP. No packet loss, no ping fluctuations and no poor network shown at top right corner of game screen. When I use MudFish I see ping fluctuations, poor network notification on my game screen. This has started happening only recently. Last week this issue was not present.

@Perpetual8672 Thank you for these screenshots. When I reviewed this issue, at least I can’t see any issue between your ISP and the mudfish nodes.

It looks like this issue is more closer to the game server network or between mudfish nodes and the game server. So if this issue is still same with different mudfish nodes, at this moment I’m guessing that it’s more related to the game server network condition.

If it is related to game server network condition why don’t I experience this issue with my ISP? This is the question that has been bothering me. If the issue is with the game server itself shouldnt it be the same with when using my ISP? I’m also wondering if this issue has to do with the recent mudfish update because the issue kind of began around when I updated mudish. I’m going to take this issue to Delta Force support to hear what they have to say in this. Hopefully something good will come out. My ISP sometimes gives me high ping so whenever that happens I use Mudfish but I havent been able to since this issue showed up.

No idea for this case because the WinMTR result from your local ISP also points that there’s a problem your ISP level and the game server network. Might be that WinMTR result isn’t accurate enough to show us the culprit.. :-1:

If you wonder that this issue is triggered by the recent release of Mudfish, please check Index of /releases/ link and try to use the previous versions.

Hello Ma’am,

As per your suggestion, I downgraded from Mudfish v5.17.3 to v5.17.1. As a result the issue has gone completely no ping fluctuations, packet loss and poor network condition is being shown on game screen anymore. I have tested with 4 mudfish nodes and I have found no issue with any of them. This is safe to say that the issue lies somewhere in Mudfish Client.

Regarding WinMTR result accuracy I don’t think something is wrong with the program as I have tested the same issue with a different program called PingPlotter and found the results to be same.

It might be that the address {43.152.113.1 (Delta Force- Asia Singapore)} is not the actual matchmaking server but the in-game menu server which connects to a completely different server hence no packet loss and poor network condition happens within the game. This is my best guess.

I hope you will be able diagnose whatever issue is there with Mudfish Client.

Thank you and regards,

:frowning: Good to hear that it’s working fine with v5.17.1 and thank you for these screenshot results. But not good to me because I could not find a problem what caused this issue frankly.

As you can see at Release Notes | Mudfish Document link, most of changes aren’t related with the connection so it’s not easy to know why this issue happens.

If possible, could you please test with v5.17.2 too? I’m curious that it’s even the same.

Hello Ma’am,

I have also tested the game with v5.17.2 and found no issue with it.

Thank you for this testing. When I reviewed the code change between v5.17.2 and v5.17.3, I only see

  • Some code changes for the thread-safe issue when it tries to print the process name in the logs.
  • Fixed a crash while handling the string %ws format.

In my personal opinion, I can’t find a wrong part or a code affecting to your ping. So it looks good to me. If possible, please try to test as follows:

I’m not sure that the problem reports include more details about why but I’d like to check it first. Thank you for your help.

Hello Ma’am,

I reinstalled v5.17.3 and encountered the issue once again and now have submitted a problem report. One thing I want to mention is the in-game lag is very weird. I haven’t encountered this type of lag ever before. When I run to a location within game, few seconds later I’m (teleport) back to some previous location but not where I started from. Its like not all packets are going to the server. On client side I’m where I want to be but server detects my location to somewhere else behind which I get to know few seconds later as I teleport.

I don’t know why this happens with Delta Force only. The only other game I have tried is ‘Path of Exile’ and found no issue there. There could be more games that might be affected like this.

Update:- This time there was no packet loss on in-game screen but poor network condition shown.

Thanks & regards,

FFXIV player here (Uruguay → EU&NA), started having intermittent issues at around the same time as OP and assumed it was a local ISP problem until last Sunday. I downgraded from 5.17.5 to 5.17.1 and for the first time in a week I was able to play for 4h straight without any connection hiccups. Over this week, I kept testing, went back to 5.17.5 and didn’t experience issues until last night, when what looked like the same problem appeared again. Killed the 5.17.5 process and started 5.17.3, no issues for the rest of the night.

I’m a developer myself and it didn’t look to me like the kind of problem that would be caused by a GPN client, so I’m still not convinced but I do acknowledge that it’s too much of a coincidence that the moment I went back to an older version everything started working normally. If it’s any help, I noticed two peculiar things:

  • KDE would give me “network down” notifications for my Ethernet interface (not a tun/tap; didn’t happen last night but it could’ve been a matter of time)
  • I have the default XIV item set up for NA and two custom items for EU and OCE (as well as a default item for another game which I think is hosted in the US east); when the issue happened while playing in NA, the default item would show packet loss but not the custom ones, and when it happened while playing in EU, the custom EU and OCE items would show packet loss (but not the default NA item)

I’ll be using 5.17.6 now and see what happens.
