It only reduces your ping in fastconnect mode, but in this mode when you zone change/teleport in game, you get insta disconnect.
However are you saying that MU Legend item of Mudfish has a problem? :-) If then please check http://mudfish.net/forums/7/topics/16210 link.
If it works with that, it means that the game item should be updated.
