Unexpectedly high traffic usage with Advanced Mode (Hypixel Minecraft)

Hello,

I’m experiencing unexpectedly high traffic usage while using Mudfish for Minecraft (Hypixel SkyBlock).

My configuration:
Data Plan: Pay Per Traffic
Full VPN: Disabled
Connection Method: Item-based
Item: Minecraft
Node Mode: Advanced Mode
Multi Path: Not in use
Connection Protocol: Automatic
Simple FEC: Disabled

I only route Minecraft through Mudfish. (Full VPN mode is off)

On 2026-07-31, I played Minecraft for approximately 3-4 hours, but Mudfish recorded approximately:

Domestic Traffic: 1,670 MB
International Traffic: 12,081 MB
Total: ~13.7 GB

As a result, over US$1.3 of my balance was deducted in only a few days of normal gameplay.

The Access Log also shows many very large transfers to 172.65.197.160 (Hypixel), with entries such as:

My Computer → US West (Seattle - ColoCrossing): 197 MB / 1538 MB
US West (Seattle - ColoCrossing) → 172.65.197.160: 1469 MB / 171 MB
Similar entries around 900–1500 MB.

This amount of traffic seems extremely high for approximately 3-4 hours of Minecraft gameplay.

Could you please help me determine:

  1. Is this amount of traffic expected for Advanced Mode?
  2. Does the Traffic page show actual billable traffic, or does it include relay/internal traffic?
  3. Is there anything unusual about the Seattle ColoCrossing node or my selected route?
  4. Is there a configuration issue that could cause this level of traffic despite Full VPN being disabled?

Thank you.

Hello! To answer your questions:

  1. Advanced Mode uses 2 nodes, but it doesn’t double your traffic usage. It calculates it as a single node.
  2. The traffic shown is actual billable traffic. Internal/relay traffic is not counted.
  3. Based on the access logs provided, nothing looks unusual on our end.
  4. The exact cause is unclear. To investigate further, I recommend using mudnetmon to monitor what is using the data.

Let us know if you need further help!

great, thank you!
