I have always followed the steps as stipulated on this site, but now I cannot connect at all. I tried reinstalling Mudfish and using different Full VPN Mode nodes too, to no avail. Both the PS4 and the PC are able to detect that the Ethernet cable is connected, but there is no connection.

Umm… I think the latest document is Internet Connection Sharing with Mudfish but might be almost same…
However if your setup is no longer working, at this moment I can’t help more because it’s not easy to reproduce your issue on my environment… 
I think you need to check steps one by one carefully.
